Each year Shalom Bayit organizes “Shabbat Shalom: A Sabbatical from Domestic Violence” when for 25 hours of Shabbat, we ask people to call upon their congregation to focus on preventing violence in the home. Often in October to coincide with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, rabbis and community leaders give sermons on abuse in Jewish homes during the “Shabbat Shalom” weekend as well as throughout the year.
